NEW Foundation Launches Free Youth Skill Acquisition Program in Ebonyi State

On Monday, April 27, 2026, the Neighbourhood Environment Watch (NEW) Foundation, in partnership with Africa Forward, officially launched the Free Youth Skill Acquisition Programme under the Uplift Programme, themed Skill2Scale Africa, with the onboarding of participants in Ebonyi State.

This initiative reflects NEW Foundation’s ongoing commitment to tackling unemployment by equipping young people with practical, income-generating skills that enhance self-reliance and economic empowerment.

In the first phase of the programme, 200 youths were successfully onboarded, while 150 participants will undergo intensive training in vocational and digital skills tailored to current market demands and emerging opportunities.

The Skill2Scale Africa programme is designed to:

  • Improve employability among young people
  • Promote entrepreneurship and job creation
  • Equip participants with relevant vocational and digital competencies
  • Support sustainable livelihoods and economic growth

By investing in youth development, NEW Foundation and Africa Forward are contributing to the social and economic advancement of Ebonyi State and Nigeria at large.

As participants begin this transformative learning journey, the programme is expected to create lasting impact through strengthened skills, expanded opportunities, and a growing network of empowered young people ready to contribute meaningfully to society.

This milestone marks the beginning of a promising journey toward youth empowerment, innovation, and sustainable development.

Stay connected as we continue to support and spotlight participants throughout this impactful programme.
